What is Cornster Plan?
Cornster Plan is the master plan of farmers Janne and Maxime. In 2019, Janne and Maxime, as the seventh generation, took over her parents’ farm. They breathed new life into the farm and turned it into an organic farm with a very unique concept: a corn maze. This maze is one for the whole family! The little ones can get lost in the children’s maze that takes you an average of 30 minutes to wander around. But even the very young can test their sense of orientation in the big Corn Maze. This consists of two parts and you can easily get lost in this for 1-2 hours. Got thirsty from all that searching? In the maze during the day, you can visit the Cornster Bar where you can choose from a variety of local Dam local products.
This corn labyrinth is a great success every year, and in the meantime Janne and Maxime’s Cornster Plan has grown into an entire experience farm. Besides getting lost in the maze, you can do other fun activities such as:
- Glamping in the corn maze
- A visit to the petting zoo (only those staying overnight)
- Pick your own fruits and vegetables in the organic picking garden
- Enjoying breakfast, lunch or barbecue with local local produce
- Going packrafting on the Damse Vaart
Spending the night in a corn maze
Now what to imagine about spending the night in a corn maze? At Maïsterplan in Damme, you can stay overnight in one of their glamping tents. Glamping is a combination of camping and glamour, and this is no different at Cornsterplan. You have all the comforts of a hotel room, but you sleep among the corn. Nothing like getting lost in the maze in the evening with your partner, family or friends and afterwards chatting under the stars in Damme.
Those staying in a Maize tent can use a shared bathroom block with hot showers and toilets. There is room for two adults and a maximum of three children in the Maize tents. Those who like to have electricity can also visit the Cornster Suites. Still looking for a little more luxury? Then their Tiny House might be for you! All the comforts of home among the corn. The Tiny House has its own bathroom and a small kitchenette.
The best thing about this experience? The nighttime entrance to the maze! During our overnight stay, we were able to enjoy a beautiful sunset over the Dam Polders. And finding the way out of a giant maze while the sun is down is another challenge in itself.
Local farm experience
Those who stay overnight in the corn maze can slide their feet under one of the long tables at Maïsterplan in Damme in the evening. Farmer Max then spoils you with a delicious barbecue. Expect short chain as it should be: greens from the picking garden and meat from farm animals. Complemented by local regional dishes, a blissful taste experience awaits you. After dinner, you can linger around the campfire before crawling under wool (or among the corn).
In the morning, you wake up relaxed, crawl out of your tent and are immediately among the corn. Trust us that this is an amazing experience and your day couldn’t start any better! A delicious breakfast awaits you at 9 a.m. with local local produce once again. After breakfast, Farmer Janne will take you on a farm tour. During the tour, you’ll hear more about the history of the farm and get a chance to pet and feed the animals. Ideal to do with the kids, but we also learned a lot that day!
Don’t you want to go home yet after this? We certainly get that! You can stay several nights in the maze. During the day you will have the chance to explore the area around Damme. Go hiking, biking or even packrafting in the area. There is plenty to do during this blissful mini vacation in Belgium!
Where and when should I be at Cornster Plan?
Maïsterplan’s experiential farm is located in the polders of Damme in Belgium. From Amsterdam it is less than 2.5 hours away and from Brussels less than 1.5 hours. So ideal for a family weekend getaway. Cornster Plan is open annually from July 1 to September 30. So be sure to already mark a hole in your calendar so as not to miss the next edition!
