Complete Mallorca itinerary in one week
Mallorca is the largest island of the Balearic Islands and has an excellent road network that makes getting around easy. Therefore, the best way to explore the island is to renting a car. Driving yourself in Mallorca is already a unique experience in itself with its many, beautiful landscapes. In addition, it gives you the freedom to go wherever you want and you can easily reach remote places such as Sa Calobra.
For this itinerary, we stayed in two places in Mallorca. The first days we slept in Serra de Tramuntana, near the town of Sóller. The second part we slept on the west side of the island, close to the many beaches. This way, for this tour of Mallorca, you never have to spend more than an hour in the car to reach the destinations. We recommend you do the same, or stay in Palma de Mallorca for the first days of this itinerary.
Day 1: Start round trip Mallorca in Sóller
On the first day of this Mallorca round trip, you will pick up your rental car at the airport. You will then drive directly to the heart of the Tramuntana Mountains: Soller. This lively town is 30 km from Mallorca airport. Soller is the ideal base for exploring the Tramuntana Mountains over the next few days. A must-do in Soller is a ride on the Orange Express. This authentic, wooden streetcar takes you from the historic center of Soller to Puerto de Soller, the beach and harbor. There you will find a cozy promenade and plenty of restaurants overlooking the sea. We recommend you make reservations in time at the popular NENI Mallorca.
Day 2: Sa Calobra & Cap de Formentor
Today is all about the rugged nature and unique landscapes of the Tramuntana Mountains in Mallorca. Follow one of the most beautiful car routes in the country, better known as the Sa Calobra Route. This 10 km long road winds through Serra de Tramantuna, overcoming one hairpin bend after another. At the top, you’ll arrive at the “Nus de Sa Corbata,” where the road passes under itself! Take a few photos here before continuing on towards Sa Calobra.
The road ends at a parking lot in the town of the same name, Sa Calobra. From there you hike toward the unique beach of Sa Calobra, walking yourself a bit through a cliff. Behind the cliff awaits the beautiful beach that lies in the Torrent de Pareis gorge. The gigantic rocks rising perpendicularly from the sea with the crystal clear water, makes it one of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca. Be sure to take food, drinks and protection from the sun with you what on the beach itself you will find nothing else.

Sunset at Cap de Formentor
In the afternoon, continue driving towards Cap de Formentor. This is undoubtedly the most beautiful place in Mallorca to watch the sunset. Depending on when the sun sets, you can first stop in the village of Pollença or Port de Pollença for something to eat. Then drive on toward Cap de Formentor, the northernmost point of Mallorca. Here you will find steep cliffs overlooking the endless horizon of the Mediterranean Sea. At the top you will find a white lighthouse, a popular place to watch the sunset and one of the best things to do on Mallorca!
CAUTION! From June 1 to September 30, the road to Cap de Formentor is closed to cars from 10:00 to 22:00. It is then best to park at Playa de Formentor. From there you can take a bus towards Cap de Formentor.
Day 3: Picturesque villages in Serra de Tramuntana (Valldemossa & Deia)
On day 3 of this Mallorca itinerary you will explore the island’s most beautiful villages: Valldemossa and Deia. Spend the morning first in cozy Valldemossa to get ahead of the crowds. Stroll through the cobblestone streets lined with charming, stone houses with painted shutters and terracotta flower pots. You’ll also find plenty of quaint little stores and coffee shops, so be sure to take your time here!
Then drive on to charming Deia, about 20 minutes away. If you are still looking for a unique place to have lunch, be sure to check out Cala Deia. On this rocky beach you will find the popular C’as Patro March, a delicious seafood restaurant with a fantastic view of Cala Deia. Afterwards, you can take a dip in the crystal clear waters of Cala Deia. This is a very nice snorkeling spot, but the many rocks make it less pleasant to lie on. Be sure to bring water sandals.
In the afternoon you can pass through the photogenic Deia stroll through. The stone houses with pastel shutters and doors contrast nicely with the rugged mountains. End the day at what may be the most beautiful restaurant in Mallorca: Barretes Restaurant. This restaurant is located on a mountaintop from which you can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding area. Enjoy the delicious food while watching the sun slowly set, an evening to remember!
Day 4: Palma de Mallorca
We leave the Tramantuna Mountains behind and travel on to the east side of Mallorca. Leave early in the morning so that you arrive in Palma de Mallorca on time. After all, today you will spend the day in this vibrant capital! Since Palma is not very big, you can easily see the most beautiful sights in one day. Especially the impressive cathedral La Seu must be seen. You can spot this cathedral from afar with its many Gothic details. Book your skip-the-line ticket in advance here!
Are you looking for cool restaurants in Palma de Mallorca? Then both Restaurant Botanic and Bar Abaco are recommended. Be sure to reserve a spot, because in high season it can get very crowded. Then go shopping on Passeig del Born and have a look at Can Fortaza Rey, a beautiful art deco building influenced by Gaudí. After a well-filled day in Palma de Mallorca, drive on to Cala d’Or in less than an hour. This lively coastal town will be your next base from which to explore the eastern side of Mallorca!
Day 5: Santanyi market & the most beautiful beaches
Sleep well today before heading down to the lively town of Santanyi. Be sure to try to come on a Wednesday or Saturday, because that is when you will find a very nice market here! Between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., the streets are transformed with numerous stalls. You can find fresh pastries, clothes, flowers and nice souvenirs. We found this to be one of the most fun things to do in Mallorca, so definitely try to pick this up during your trip.
Afternoon: beach hopping in Mallorca
You can’t come to Mallorca without a day of relaxing on the beach! In Mallorca you will find hundreds of beautiful beaches and coves (calas), so there is something for everyone. Near Santanyi you will find two beaches that are absolutely worth a visit. The photogenic Cala s’Almunia with cute boathouses and Calo des Moro, where the water is so clear as if you were swimming in a pool! End your day in the fishing village of Cala Figuera. Stroll through the harbor with its many boats while the skippers are bringing in the day’s catch. For dinner, we can’t recommend Restaurante Pura Vida Mallorca enough: both the views and the food there are fantastic.
Day 6: Parc Natural de Mondrago & boat trip
Another, fun way to visit beaches in Mallorca is by joining a boat trip! Go for a snorkeling tour with lunch, a boat tour during sunset or rent your own boat to explore on your own. Below are several options:
Depending on the time of your boat trip, you will go to Parc Natural de Mondrago before or after. Here you will find Cala Mondrago, one of our favorite beaches in Mallorca. This is because of its location in a natural environment. In fact, all around you will find numerous hiking trails through the many pine trees that take you from one bay to another. The beaches here are also much larger, making it feel less crowded. At the first beach you encounter you will find a beach bar with toilets and a lifeguard. You can walk further into the park, looking for a quiet spot. Be sure to bring your snorkel, because we saw quite a few fish in the water without a snorkel ourselves!
Day 7: Away from the crowd
Mallorca is a popular vacation destination and you will notice that during the high season. The beaches and villages can get very crowded at times, especially on weekends. Fortunately, there are also less crowded places, such as Cala Ratjada in the northwest of the island. Here again, you will find all of them beautiful beaches such as Platja de Cala Gat, Cala Mesquida and Cala Agulla. Be sure to stop by the Esglesia Nova church along the way. The building was never finished, which is why it has no roof. Still, the church is in use, making it a unique place. You can spend your last evening in Cala d’Or where you are staying. Here you will find plenty of trendy restaurants.

Day 8: Return flight home
This Mallorca itinerary in seven days is over! Today you drive from Cala d’Or back towards Palma de Mallorca. If you still have time to spare, you can make a stop at Cala Pi today. This sandy beach lies in a narrow gorge surrounded by high cliffs on which gigantic villas overlook the bay. The beach itself turns into a dried-out river that goes deeper into the gorge called Torres de Pi, making it a unique sight.
Where to stay in Mallorca
As mentioned, we recommend that you stay in two places on the island. This way you won’t have to travel unnecessary long distances during this itinerary Mallorca in 7 days. Depending on your itinerary, you will spend one half in the Tramantuna Mountains and the other half on the west side of the island with its many beaches. Palma de Mallorca is also a good base, but accommodation can be very expensive, especially in the summer months. These are recommended hotels to make your trip in Mallorca even better:

- East Mallorca (beaches): Hotel Santanyi Port or Can Ferrereta
- Palma de Mallorca: Palau Sa Font or Hotel Cappuccino
How to visit Mallorca
You’ll find several direct flights to Mallorca’s international airport from all over Europe. There is even a direct flight from the United States to the island. Check out the cheapest flights here! Another option to reach Mallorca is to take the ferry from Barcelona. This trip takes about 7 hours, but this way you can bring your own car or motorhome.
Best travel time Mallorca, Spain
High season runs from June to September: the weather is best then (warm and sunny) and the water is warm. You can count on about 30 degrees and 9 to 10 hours of sunshine per day. Summer (July and August) is also the busiest time of the year, because that’s when many Europeans have vacations and visit the island. If you want to avoid the crowds, we recommend the months of May or September. It is also cheaper to stay then and you will find parking easier.
